Researchers demonstrate that access to general education settings and content is associated with positive academic, social, and functional outcomes for students with a range of disabilities and inclusion is considered an evidence-based practice for students with intellectual disabilities. Inclusion for students with severe intellectual disabilities happens less often than instruction in a separate class. As a substitute, you may be offered a position working with students with intellectual disabilities in either of these educational environments. In this training we will focus on things that you can do as a substitute teacher, teacher, or paraeducator to support the specific needs of these students.
This free session is a voluntary, unpaid professional development opportunity provided for Kelly Education and Teachers On Call employees.
