A Kelly Education recruiter will work with you to determine the roles you are most qualified for, and to guide you through the process and requirements to get started in your state.

A Kelly Education recruiter will walk you through the specific requirements, but typical requirements for Albuquerque Public Schools are as follows:

Substitute teacher:

• 18 years of age or older for elementary school positions.
• 21 years of age or older for high school and middle school positions.
• Provide transcripts showing at least 60 semester hours of completed coursework from an accredited institution, OR hold a high school diploma or GED and complete the NM Substitute Certification which requires teaching observation hours sponsored by the school district.

Substitute education assistant:

• 48 college credits, in any skill set, OR a high school diploma/GED and be willing to take -- and pass-- the Education Assistant exam.

Both positions require:

• Completion of Kelly Education's free online training (2 hours).
• Albuquerque Public Schools fingerprint clearance ($44 fee applies).
• Licensure and fingerprint clearance ($44 and $50 fees apply).

While every role in education has unique requirements, having an Education degree or prior work experience is typically not required for most roles.

The pay rate for daily substitute teachers in Albuquerque Public Schools is as follows:

• Associates degree -- pay rate starts at $16.50 per hour, but can be as much as $31.39 per hour depending on type of substitute assignments worked.
• Bachelor's degree -- pay rate starts at $18 per hour, but can be as much as $27 per hour depending on type of assignments worked. 
• Retired APS Teacher or Teaching License -- pay rate starts at $21 per hour, but can be as much as $39.61 per hour depending on degree licensure and type of assignments worked.

Pay rate for daily substitute education assistant is $15.00-18.01 per hour.

Payday is weekly on Fridays.

4. Complete our online classroom management training. This free, required training will prepare you to be a confident in your new role.
5. Pass a background check. Fingerprinting and background checks are completed to ensure a safe environment for students.
6. Attend our paid orientation. Learn about the policies and procedures for working with Kelly Education and the education institution.
7. Start working!

Most positions allow for flexible schedules, however there is typically enough work opportunity if a steady schedule is what you are looking for.
