Job Title: Chief Engineer (Senior Engineering Project Coordinator)
Location: North of Atlanta
Job Type: Full Time
Reports to: VP of Engineering
Travel: Up to 25% during commissioning phase of each project
Overview:
We are seeking a seasoned Senior Engineering Project Coordinator to lead projects and people at a thriving company in the heavy equipment industry. This leadership role will work closely with the VP of Engineering to manage and coordinate the execution of engineering deliverables, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. The position involves overseeing both internal teams and third-party engineering disciplines to drive project success from initiation through completion.
Responsibilities:
Project Initiation:
- Collaborate with the VP of Engineering to define and implement the execution strategy for projects.
- Establish project teams utilizing both internal and external resources.
- Set priorities and deadlines for all projects.
Project Execution:

Supervise daily engineering operations.
- Partner with product engineering to prioritize project assignments.
- Maintain consistent communication with engineers to monitor project progress.
- Manage project budgets, focusing on engineering hours and design costs.
- Coordinate design reviews and approval of project blueprints.

Oversee project engineering deliverables.
- Lead coordination with 3rd party disciplines as needed.
- Work with Product Engineers to define project scope, timelines, and budgets.
- Support contract negotiations and monitor subcontractor performance.

Ensure alignment between various engineering teams:
- Electrical: Facilitate coordination to meet deadlines and share necessary design/vendor information.
- Structural and Detailing: Ensure collaboration to achieve deliverables on time.

Liaise with vendors and other stakeholders:
- Set deadlines for vendor information supporting design tasks.
- Engage with field teams on construction sequences and logistics.
- Address shipping requirements, particularly for heavy, ocean-bound transport.

Report weekly project progress to the VP of Engineering and COO.
Project Completion:
- Collaborate with the VP of Engineering to evaluate lessons learned regarding:
- Client expectations, design efficiency, constructability, and vendor performance.
- Analyze project timelines, resource management, and budget adherence.
Project Support:
- Provide technical support to procurement and construction/commissioning teams as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- Over 10 years of experience in engineering and/or construction.
- Expertise in heavy industrial equipment, with knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components, steel fabrication, and AISC painting standards being a plus.
- Energetic, dynamic, and self-motivated personality.
- Strong communication skills across oral, written, and electronic mediums.
- Proven abilities in planning, organization, and decision-making.
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook) and SolidWorks.
- Cultural sensitivity and understanding of global practices.
- Willingness and capacity to travel both domestically and internationally (North America, Asia, and Europe).
