Structural Engineer
Kelly® Engineering is seeking a Structural Engineer for a direct hire position with a large industrial client in Sparks, NV. If you are passionate about shaping the world we live in and are ready to reengineer your future, trust the experts at hiring experts.
Overview
This client recycles and rebuilds rechargeable batteries. Due to growth in this industry, they are building new industrial facilities in Nevada and other parts of the country. As a member of their infrastructure team, you’ll lead structural design initiatives for their industrial facilities.
Responsibilities:
- Execute and manage structural engineering projects, owning the entire process from concept to completion.
- Develop detailed design drawings and specifications, perform complex structural calculations, review design work by others, and generate comprehensive reports and evaluations.
- Monitor and observe construction sites to ensure compliance with design intent, proactively identifying opportunities to improve quality and efficiency.
- Analyze and design concrete, steel, and other structural elements while creating and justifying calculations based on the relevant material codes.
- Drive external design consultants to deliver coordinated, high-quality construction documents on time.
- Work both independently and within interdisciplinary teams to arrive at technical solutions that meet project requirements.
- Provide direction, mentorship, and supervision to junior engineers and other team members, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented environment.
- Interface with internal business units to define project requirements, present designs, and incorporate feedback effectively.
- Identify and propose innovative products, materials, and best practices; leverage lessons learned from past and current projects to refine design documentation.
- Develop workflows, templates, and processes to boost design productivity and quality.
- Lead discipline coordination efforts, manage project schedules, and maintain open lines of communication with all stakeholders.
- Serve as the Engineer of Record for most projects.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience in structural engineering for industrial building-related design projects.
- Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering (or Civil Engineering with a Structural emphasis) or Bachelor’s Degree with 12+ years of structural experience
- Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the state of Nevada, or eligibility for Nevada comity via an active NCEES record. (S.E.) Preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of structural engineering for industrial building structures, including floor loading, lateral force-resisting systems, utility distribution support, equipment anchorage, and vibration.
- Proficiency with U.S. building codes (IBC, ASCE 7, AISC 360, ACI 318).
- Hands-on experience with Revit, BIM 360, and structural finite element software (ETABS, RISA, RAM) as well as structural calculation tools (Enercalc, Hilti Profis).
- Comprehensive experience managing RFI responses and submittal reviews throughout construction.
- Excellent organization and attention to detail
- Strong verbal, written, and sketch/drawing communication skills
- Effective time management and proven ability to drive results under tight deadlines
- Highly motivated, proactive, and passionate about sustainability
- Skilled in cross-functional teamwork and collaboration
