Pay rate: $16.96 per hour
Length: 3 month, more than likely will extend into the next semester and possibly beyond.
Work Schedule:
Monday & Tuesday 1pm-8pm, Wednesday & Thursday 12pm-5pm, Friday 1pm-5pm |

What’s a typical day as a Library Support Specialist? You’ll be:
- Search, input, and update online records including bibliographic, patron, reserve, and interlibrary loan records.
- Assist with integrated library system (ILS) record maintenance.
- Verify interlibrary loan requests and locate local holding libraries.
- Maintain accurate files and statistics for interlibrary loans.
- Assist library faculty in answering user questions, making referrals, and operating public rooms.
- Maintain orders for library materials and track order records.
- Record receipt information for serials and manage predictive profiles.
- Prepare library materials for shelving and circulation.
- Provide clerical support including ordering supplies, reporting equipment problems, and scheduling/billing for services.
- Train and direct college student personnel with appropriate approval.
- Provide circulation, interlibrary loan, and reserve desk services.
- Negotiate fines, collect money, and transfer funds to the campus business office.
- Assist patrons in locating materials and using systems/equipment.
- Coordinate the search process for missing materials.
- Assist librarians with bibliographies, instructional materials, and collection development.
- Process and maintain government documents; manage bindery processes.
- Organize and conduct inventory projects; resolve shelving conflicts and errors.
- Perform copy cataloging and modify authority records as needed.
- Organize and oversee database management projects.
- Manage and update vendor files and monitor electronic resource subscriptions.
- Configure and maintain software and APIs for data transfer between automated systems.
- Track budgeting records and liaise with the Purchasing Department.
This job might be an outstanding fit if you:
- An earned Associate Degree or higher in Library Science or any Associate Degree with 16 college credit hours in Library Science.
- A valid Michigan driver’s license.
- Proficiency in computer keyboard use: 35 wpm minimum.
- Two (2) years experience in a library setting.
- MS Word and Excel
- Demonstrated customer service experience.
