Senior EHS Specialist
Location: Alachua FL
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm fully onsite
Hourly Pay Rate: $40
Holidays and weekend availability required
Position Responsibilities:
This role is responsible for providing technical and regulatory support for environmental and life safety programs at the Alachua, Florida facilities, which includes manufacturing, research, and administrative areas. The position ensures compliance with environmental regulations, life safety protocols, and internal policies.
Key responsibilities include:
- Implementing environmental initiatives to meet federal, state, and local regulations and ensuring adherence to company standards.
- Monitoring life safety programs and making recommendations for improvements.
- Managing environmental compliance programs, including permits, regulatory obligations, and necessary actions to maintain compliance.
- Collaborating with safety inspectors and fire marshals to conduct facility inspections and address issues.
- Supporting environmental compliance activities related to operations and infrastructure.
- Driving continuous improvement of environmental programs, applying a systematic approach to integrate these into site culture.
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and hosting necessary compliance inspections.
- Managing environmental compliance across all media (air, water, waste, spill control, chemical management), including equipment and facility permits and audits.
- Monitoring emerging environmental regulations and creating strategies to ensure compliance.
- Serving as a subject matter expert for environmental issues, advising on site standards and procedures.
- Developing and delivering environmental training programs for staff.
- Ensuring accurate environmental recordkeeping and reporting.
- Investigating incidents and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
- Supporting emergency preparedness and business continuity efforts.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Advanced knowledge of environmental regulations (e.g., EPA, RCRA, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act).
- Experience managing hazardous waste, spill prevention, wastewater, and air permits.
- Ability to interpret and guide on local and state regulations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, and leadership capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or related field.
- Experience with environmental inspections and project management.
- Familiarity with DOT regulations and wastewater discharge compliance.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
This role requires an individual with a proactive approach to environmental compliance and the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders to ensure operational efficiency and regulatory adherence.
