Laboratory Technician I (Annandale, NJ)
Kelly Science, a global staffing and solutions provider of specialty talent, is currently recruiting in the NJ area for a long-term contract Laboratory Technician. Our customer is one of the largest petrochemical providers in the world. For this role, you would be performing quality control testing on final lubricant products shipped in from plants all over the US. This is an opportunity to contribute your knowledge of laboratory skills to a team of scientists working to ensure great product quality every day. Shift: 1st shift: Monday – Friday, 7AM-330PM OR 8AM-430PM OR 830AM-5PM (flexible) – OT available and preference given to those candidates willing to work a few hours of OT weekly
Job Responsibilities:
- Support/assist the lab supervisors/chemists by performing routine and non-routine laboratory analysis/wet chemistry on product and in-process samples, to support plant operations for the purpose of quality assurance/control.
- Perform calibration and maintenance of test equipment.
- Prepare samples, via distillation and blend preparation, and ensure accurate data generation and records, in accordance with the standard operating procedures.
- Prepare chemical stock solutions and reagents, as well as set preparation standards.
Here is a breakdown of the position details:
- Sample Splitting– Taking materials and splitting them down to smaller samples for use in analytical testing or offsite shipping
- Chemical Shipping Requests– Splitting materials and preparing paperwork for chemicals to be shipped offsite in support of a crude assay program
- Blend Preparation– Blending raw materials together in preparation for run in pilot units or crude assays. *Ability to position/move up to 55-gallon drum utilizing tools in place*
- Inventory Management– Managing the laboratory inventory for samples and commodity chemicals
Qualifications:
- Preferably 2-5 years of relevant experience in a laboratory environment
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
- Experience with quality control systems preferred
- Some level of Microsoft Excel proficiency
- Effective verbal and written communicator
- Able to work in a team-oriented environment – very important
