Kelly Science and Clinical is seeking an experienced R&D Principal Scientist to join a growing team in Greenville, SC.
Salary: $115,000-130,000/year depending on experience
Shift: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
Employment Type: Full Time; Direct Hire

Job responsibilities include:
- Leads pivotal development batches, ensuring timely documentation with appropriate scientific rationale.
- Troubleshoots and recommends improvements in existing methods; adapts standard techniques to address technical challenges, particularly complex problems.
- Collaborates with Quality and R&D to prepare and review key documents like batch records, work instructions, specifications, CAPAs, MRBs, and SOPs.
- Prepares research reports, analyzing information and trends; presents findings to internal and external customers.
- Attends seminars and workshops to stay updated on new technologies and practices; shares new knowledge with the team.
- Conducts scientific trials to evaluate new raw sources and their impact on products.
- Develops strategies in line with project and company goals; collaborates with experts to achieve scientific success.
- Acts as a technical leader, communicating with corporate customers and 3rd party labs; resolves technical issues using expertise.
- Helps set project goals and timelines; contributes to project documents and presentations.
- Upholds scientific standards, cGMP compliance, and safe laboratory practices for self and team.
- Ensures compliance with corporate policies and safety guidelines.
- Participates in relevant industry organizations; stays informed on industry updates and methods.
- Maintains high ethical standards and good character as an employee, adhering to the company’s highest level of standards.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in food science formulation, chemistry, pharmaceutics or a related scientific field preferred. Bachelors degree requried.
- 10-15 years of relevant industry experience required.
- Extensive experience developing soft gelatin encapsulated products and developing formulations for commercial gummy and/or confectionary dosage forms required.
- Must have experience with continuous drying and experience working within a manufacturing/production environment.
