Kelly Services is seeking a Buyer/planner position for busy Metals a Manufacturer located in Lake Mary, FL 32746
Pay Rate: $16-$20 per hour
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 1st shift, 7am-4:30pm
Job Summary:
This full-time position that will involve purchasing direct materials such as raw materials, components, and outsourcing items loaded in the ERP Bill of Materials (BOM). The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills and the ability to comply with the overall company strategic direction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Purchasing:
- Review and issue approved purchase orders for goods or services required by the company.
- Follow up on purchase orders and expedite where necessary.
- Review Open PO reports for past-due items and close open POs as appropriate.
- Assist with outsourcing various services.
- Communicate with vendors regarding nonconforming materials and potential returns/credits.
- Support Sales/Estimating by obtaining pricing, delivery, and vendor capability information.
- Re-evaluate current vendors based on established purchasing process criteria.
- Review ERP system-generated planned purchase orders for materials and services and release necessary purchase orders.
- Assist in the RFQ process when additional vendor information is needed.
- Identify and document Continuous Improvement opportunities.
- Verify receipt of items by comparing received items to ordered items, resolving shipment errors with suppliers.
- Manage multiple projects, meeting timelines and deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
- Enforce terms and conditions of purchase orders with compliance to Company policy and legal requirements.
- The Purchasing Agent can issue POs to vendors after required approvals.
Planner:
- Review input production data and system requirements to gather information on materials, priorities, and personnel needs.
- Compile schedules and issue dispatch lists for production orders.
- Monitor work progress to meet customer requirements.
- Maintain inventory of materials and supplies to meet production demands.
- Run the MRP Planning module within Intuitive to develop planned work orders.
- Issue dispatch lists to different work centers and adjust schedules based on MODs and Quick Turn requirements.
- Assist in contract review processes to determine if new customer requirements can be met.
- Follow up with purchasing on material and purchased items.
- Review MRP exceptions logs and advise Engineering of corrections required.
- Assist the Shop Data maintenance person with floor reporting issues.
- Report on the progress of criteria for effectiveness during Management Reviews for the Planning and Purchasing Departments.
- Identify and document Continuous Improvement opportunities.
- Wear required safety equipment when necessary and follow all safety policies.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and MRP/ERP systems, particularly Intuitive.
