Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Southwest Atlanta, GA Area
Type: Direct Hire
Key Skills:
Strong understanding of DFM principles, particularly in product design: (Experience in one or more of the following preferred but not mandatory)
- Zinc and aluminum
- Die casting
- Metal stamping
- Aluminum extrusion
- Injection molded plastic
- Extruded plastic
CAD Experience: Expertise in part design, advanced assemblies, configuration management, and CAD simulation tools for design validation.
General Purpose of the Job:
The Mechanical Design Engineer will leverage expertise in problem-solving, sustaining and design for manufacturing to improve product manufacturability, cost, and quality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design Improvement: Analyze and enhance product designs that impact manufacturability, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Project Ownership: Lead projects through the engineering change control process, ensuring proper documentation and cross-functional communication with purchasing, quality, and manufacturing teams.
- Product Knowledge: Develop a strong understanding of the Kason product line to provide support to internal and external customers.
- CAD Modeling: Create CAD models, assemblies, drawings, and technical documentation with detailed specifications. Control product and BOM changes using PLM and ERP systems.
- Engineering Analysis: Perform engineering analysis on complex problems and propose corrective actions utilizing simulation tools, statistical analysis, and product R&D testing.
