The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining adherence to policies and procedures throughout a chemical manufacturing facility. There will be a big emphasis on environmental duties and qualified candidates MUST have experience with Air Permitting and Regulations with TCEQ and the EPA.
Duties and responsibilities
- Develops, updates, and audits company environmental, health, and safety program for the terminal and plant
- Complete regulatory compliance reporting for air emissions, storm water, OSHA log, TCEQ, EPA, etc.
- Oversee compliance with SPCC, RCRA, NFPA, and DOT
- Conducts and understands ISO audits and creates NCR/CARs.
- Manages waste disposal
- Creates and manages Job Hazard Analysis for all new processes
- Maintains safety inspections (eyewash, safety shower, fire extinguishers, forklifts, etc.)
- Identify potential safety issues and recommend corrective actions
- Conduct daily and monthly safety meetings
- Develop effective training programs for employees and administer safety training for new hires and contractors
- Ensure safety records are maintained in accordance with Company and regulatory requirements
- Ensure incidents are investigated, reports are completed, and corrective actions are tracked
- Track and control inventory of safety supplies and equipment
- Promote a safe work environment by leading by example
Qualifications
- High School Diploma required
- Higher education in Environmental Science, Health and Safety, Chemical Engineering, or related field is highly preferred
- Five years of EHS experience in a chemical plant/industry
- Experience with environmental regulations including air permitting required
- Strong understanding of health & safety regulations, laws and guidelines
