Location: Blythewood, SC (Onsite)
Schedule: Rotating 12-hour Shifts (6:45am-7pm and 6:45pm-7am) Day for 2 weeks / Nights for 2 weeks
Pay: $19/HR
Duration: 6 months
Interview: Manager will be interviewing
Manufacturing experience is a must
Experience running machines
Site is not temperature controlled.
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Operations Technician II is primarily responsible for assisting the lead techs in executing the daily and long-term operations plan. The position also works in partnership with the Supervisor, Operations Manager, TPM teams to develop and execute strong Training and Development (T&D) plans that drive business results. The candidate will support the T&D pillar. This is an essential role as the plant seeks to strengthen the skill sets and core competencies of all employees. The Operations Technician II is responsible for conducting, documenting, and recording training initiatives. He or she will be supporting Lead Tech during the shift and supervising the technician on the production line, up to five technicians. The Operations Technician II perform all functions of the job with specific attention to safe behaviors, environmental stewardship, and report all non-conformities to management.
Safety Support
- Follow all safety rules and procedures for the plant.
- Follow all lockout procedures.
- Follow all safety rules and procedures concerning the handling of all chemicals.
- Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Support the Safety department in developing, and providing all required training.
- Maintain all required certifications and skill sets necessary to train employees.
Training and Development for all employees
- Drive implementation of training plans, creating the plans in partnership with the leadership and as prioritized based on losses.
- Support New Hire Orientation, assisting with training new employees in TPM Methodology and in helping employee certify in their jobs.
- Drive cross training activity for employee development.
- Train employees on Standardized Work, using SharePoint Site for Document Control and Records Management.
- Coach employees on the One Point Lessons (OPLs) process and on writing them.
Production Support
- Read, understand and follow all Standard Operating Procedures throughout the Plant. Ensure that all training materials are developed and maintained.
- Drive the Management of Change process related to Training Package materials such as Standard Work, Skills Matrices, and Training Plans to ensure proper documentation is used for training when changes occur.
- Support TPM Teams on implementation of TPM the OC Way.
- Participates in the Safety and Housekeeping programs as established within the plant and work areas.
- Participates in continuous improvement events.
- A good understanding of the process equipment used in this facility.
- Help in minimizing process downtime.
- Monitors the specific KPI’s required by the job; reacts to upset conditions and escalates when necessary.
- Maintains an in-depth knowledge of the manufacturing process, inputs and outputs (i.e. KMI’s in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and staffing).
- Understands the needs of the customer and takes action to address those needs.
- Helps identify process problems and seeks solutions.
- Participates in shift huddles and meetings as required.
- Performs other related duties consistent with the nature of job as directed by management.
- Ability to lead team when Lead Tech is out.
- Support breaks on shift.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Degree
- Strong understanding of production line
- Must be 18 years or older
- Must be a US citizen or have the right to work in the US
- Must be drug and alcohol free
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- 2 years previous experience in training, continuous improvement and/or in creating standard work.
- Prior experience with TPM Methodology and processes preferred or 5S.
- Demonstrated interest/involvement in the coaching and training of others.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
- Must have the ability to read and understand Technical Manuals and Specification Sheets.
- Must possess strong communication and organizational skills.
- Must have strong internal and external customer service skills.
- Must work well in team environment.
- Must be able to create & update Standard Work documents.
- Must maintain all required certifications and skill sets necessary to train employees.
- Must have the ability to facilitate training in various formats.
- Must be self-motivated to work independently and in a group, and meet targets.
- Must have strong attention to detail.
- Multiple Certification may be required including Lift truck.
- Must have good understanding of all company computer system.
- Must be able to check e-mail, Create, reply to e-mail.
- Must be able to schedule and create new appointments.
- Must have the ability to measure and assess the plants training needs.
- Must be an innovative thinker style of teaching.
- Must be able embrace efficiency as much as possible.
- Must have a passion for continuous learning.
- Must have experience or be willing to shadow the various machines/roles to gain knowledge of plant processes.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
The employee should possess the ability to:
- Acceptable background check.
- Clear health questionnaire provided by Regional Occupational Nurse.
- Willingness to work flexible hours as needs arise.
- Ability to walk/stand throughout the plant for extended periods.
- Routinely ascend and descend stairs to enter work areas.
- Safeguard self with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – (goggles, and/or facemask) as necessary for task.
- Operate equipment only when trained in its use and/or are working with or under the direction of a qualified employee.
