Manufacturing Engineer
DIRECT HIRE
Location: Summerville, SC
 

  • Develop and implement lean, cost efficient and state-of-the art industrial vehicle assembly processes. Lead industrialization projects in manufacturing environment from concept phase until implementation.

  • Develop new best practices

  • Define, select and implement new production, assembly and material handling technologies.

  • Support daily production issues and the implementation of engineering changes and customer options as they are developed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify areas for improvement, develop and implement tooling and fixturing improvements

  • Manage industrialization projects of new developed equipment in a cross-functional team environment

  • Develop new and improve existing workstation layouts to support lean and efficient assembly processes, as well as improved ergonomics for shop floor employees

  • Support Industrial Engineering Manager in budgeting process and overall plant layout development

  • Develop necessary tools and assembly fixtures to support / implement lean processes

  • Foster continuous improvement process with leading principles of Quality, Cost, Delivery & Safety

  • Drive value stream cost reduction initiatives to meet production cost targets

  • Optimize existing assembly and logistics operations utilizing lean methodologies

  • Design required production and assembly tools and fixtures utilizing CAD systems

  • Select most efficient and cost effective tools for assembly processes

  • Support operations management to resolve production & quality issues via root cause analysis

  • Participate / lead Kaizen events for process improvements and generate project status reports

  • Manage engineering changes throughout your assigned areas and support other areas as needed

  • Creates and maintains work instructions for standard work throughout assigned value stream

  • Support assembly operations through special projects and new product launches as required

  • Support new product development from an assembly point of view using the principles of design for manufacturing

Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering or closely related technical field required

  • 4+ years of progressive experience

  • Advanced knowledge of manufacturing industry practices, ideally in an automotive final assembly environment

  • Solid knowledge about lean production principles, material flow optimization and continuous improvement processes

  • Self-starter requiring minimal supervision

  • Positive attitude and solid communication skills

  • Must work well under pressure in international and cross-functional teams to meet deadlines

  • Excellent MS office and CAD software skills required
