Our client is seeking a skilled Facilities Technician to join their team at the School of Dental Medicine. The Technician will perform preventative maintenance to support the facilities of the school’s 11 patient-based clinics, 2 predoctoral multidisciplinary labs, and all administrative areas of the management center. The role also involves providing maintenance services to research personnel located on the main campus.
Pay: $17.65
Hours: Monday – Friday 8:30am – 5pm
Essential Functions:
- Preventative Maintenance (40%):
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on over 200 dental clinic operatories, including replacing hoses, flushing water and suction lines, repairing/rewiring electrical lines, and cleaning biohazardous waste traps and sinks.
- Respond to work order requests submitted via the online ticketing system from students, faculty, and staff, prioritizing tasks and notifying requesters upon completion.
- Communicate with dental equipment vendors and manufacturers to secure necessary replacement parts or troubleshoot issues.
- Maintenance of Simulation Units (30%):
- Conduct routine preventative maintenance on 80 dental simulation workbenches in the pre-clinical simulation center, including the repair and maintenance of Kavo dental simulation units and regular cleaning of vacuum units.
- Record Keeping and Reporting (6%):
- Maintain records, reports, and inventory, logging all repairs and preventative maintenance into a database for monthly reporting to the assistant dean of finance and operations and the infection control officer.
- Report amalgam and biohazardous disposal of chemicals and equipment as required by state and local government agencies.
- Office Relocation (7%):
- Assist with moving faculty and staff offices, including working with the dental school and University Technology department to relocate computer and printer equipment, as well as office furniture.
- Building Maintenance Contact (10%):
- Serve as the main contact for departments regarding building-related maintenance issues, including lamping, elevator repair, temperature control issues, leaks, and biohazardous spills/cleanup.
Required Qualifications:
- Must have valid drivers’ license with clear driving record.
- Relevant experience in facilities maintenance or a related field.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with staff and vendors.
