Location: Granville, OH
Job Title: Research Associate – Binder Laboratory Technician
Pay: $22/hr.
Shift: M-F, 8am – 5pm w/ a 1 hour lunch (could be some overtime but not required) Duration: 2-year contract
Hiring Process: Phone Interview and then will invite candidate for onsite visit
The Binder Laboratory Technician actively participates in teams focused on delivering innovative binder systems and products to the insulation market. This role provides technical support for new binder design and development by performing tasks in the areas of laboratory preparations and testing. In addition, the role provides fundamental support to new product development from scale-up trials in pilot and manufacturing locations. The position reports to the Binder Laboratory Leader for Insulation.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates a commitment to safety
- Participates in regular safety meetings
- Ensures rigorous compliance to standard safety procedures and OC corporate policies
- Metrics: Zero accidents / RIR on projects
- Practices good housekeeping habits
- Provides Technical Support on Projects
- Fully understands customer requirements and needs for the design and development of innovative products, systems and other technical solutions.
- Applies technical support to evaluate product performance.
- Balances multiple assignments across one or more projects.
- Executes Binder and Material Testing
- Performs laboratory and application testing and applies understanding of ASTM or other laboratory test methods to effectively test binders and products.
- Safely conducts laboratory experiments as designed by lead investigators, documents and communicates results with lead investigator(s).
- Supports unique or ad hoc testing to identify product/material performance in unique applications.
- Provides technical insights about the new product’s attributes and performance.
- Project deliverables meet quality requirements and performance standards.

Complies to OC’s requirements to protect confidential information (e.g. IP, trade secrets, proprietary formulations, processes, and test methods, etc.)
Job Requirements
Experience and Knowledge Requirements:
- An Associate’s degree is required, preferably in science or engineering. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Proficiency employing typical productivity software such as MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) is required.
- It is essential to have experience working with spreadsheets.
- Hands-on aptitude and ability to support fast prototyping (e.g. product mockups) is needed.
