Location: San Diego, CA
Pay Rate: $18.00/hour
About Us
Kelly Services is hiring on behalf of our customer, a leading consulting laboratory specializing in the analysis, interpretation, and application of high-quality aquatic toxicity data. Their team of experts is dedicated to delivering reliable insights to clients while maintaining a collaborative and dynamic work environment.
We are currently seeking a Part-Time Laboratory Assistant to join their team of aquatic toxicologists. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to meaningful work in environmental science while gaining hands-on experience in a laboratory setting.
Position Details
- Compensation: $18.00/hour
- Schedule: Part-time (20-25 hours/week) with a flexible schedule Monday through Friday between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM
A Day in the Life
As a key member of the laboratory team, you’ll take on a variety of responsibilities that support bioassay testing and overall lab operations, including:
- Assisting technicians with whole effluent toxicity (WET) and sediment testing activities.
- Cleaning and maintaining glassware for lab operations.
- Preparing glassware and materials for testing.
- Performing general lab maintenance and cleaning.
- Caring for and maintaining aquatic test animals.
- Preparing and shipping sampling kits to clients.
- Using a microscope to analyze embryo development.
- Operating a company vehicle for seawater collection and sample courier services.
Your Expertise and Skills
To succeed in this role, you’ll need:
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in a laboratory setting (preferred).
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow directions.
- Good communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
- A commitment to maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
- The ability to pass a drug test and background screen.
