Senior Product Development Chemist
Kelly® Science & Clinical is seeking a Senior Product Development Chemist for a full-time, temp-to-hire position at a premier client in San Fernando, CA. Details:
Pay rate: $35 – $39/hr
Shift: Standard business hours
Duration: Temp-to-Hire with 3 month temp period
 
Overview:
This client is an industry-leading company known for innovation in product development within the food and beverage industry. In this role, you’ll be working with a diverse team of leaders and colleagues to analyze, develop, and improve both new and existing products utilizing various raw materials. This role will give you an opportunity to lead R&D initiatives while advancing the company’s product lines and ensuring top-quality offerings.
 
Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate superior creativity in product development.

  • Originate and develop new and existing products, including juice concentrates and flavors, based on customer or in-house requirements.

  • Work independently with minimal direction or supervision.

  • Assess the feasibility of projects considering production capacity, technology, equipment, and other limitations.

  • Perform cost analysis and determine suggested selling prices for developed products.

  • Create master formulas and compounding instructions as needed.

  • Prepare and revise product specification sheets.

  • Communicate with customers’ technical staff to understand product requirements and develop products that meet their needs.

  • Provide technical support to customers and brokers.

  • Offer on-site technical assistance to customers for new productions and troubleshooting.

  • Train R&D Product Development Chemists.

  • Establish guidelines, procedures, and policies for outgoing samples.

  • Assist Quality Control and Production departments during the initial production of new products.

  • Handle sample request inquiries in the absence of the R&D Product Development Manager.

  • Perform other duties and special projects as required.

 
Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Food Technology or equivalent education/experience.

  • 3-6+ years in food product development

  • Lead, supervisory, and/or management experience.
