Job Title: Legal Assistant – Intellectual Property

Job Summary:
Join our dynamic legal team as a Legal Assistant specializing in Intellectual Property! Located in a vibrant office environment, this full-time position at a esteemed law firm offers an exciting opportunity for candidates with a passion for law and a keen eye for detail. If you have a minimum of two years of experience in a law firm and are ready to support our attorneys in managing crucial intellectual property matters, we want to hear from you!

Job Specifications:
Job Type: Full-Time
Location: Lansing, MI
Shift: 1st 

Roles and Responsibilities:
– Draft, update, and assemble intellectual property-related forms and legal documents for filing with the USPTO, WIPO, and other entities.
– Maintain systems for tracking key dates and keep relevant parties informed.
– Organize and maintain client files and cases professionally for easy access.
– Utilize firm systems, including document management, Adobe Acrobat, and Office 365, to create and maintain documents efficiently.
– Open new client matters, coordinate conflict checks, and close matters as directed.
– Proofread and edit documents for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and format.
– Perform administrative duties such as scheduling meetings, composing correspondence, and maintaining calendars.
– Communicate professionally with clients, attorneys, and staff.
– Assist other legal assistants and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills:
– High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree is a plus.
– Minimum of two years of law firm experience; patent and trademark experience preferred.
– Strong understanding of English grammar and proofreading/editing skills.
– Knowledge of basic legal terminology or ability to learn quickly.
– Well-organized, detail-oriented, and professional.
– Proficient in Microsoft Word and willing to enhance skills.
– Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate effective communication skills.
– Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
– Collaborative mindset with a commitment to excellent client service.
