We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Inspector to join an electronics manufacturing team in West Melbourne, Florida.

Job Title: Quality Inspector – SMT & Final (1st & 2nd Shifts)
Location: West Melbourne, Florida 
Pay Rate: Up to $18/ hour 
Schedule: 1st shift 7:00am – 3:30pm , 2nd shift 3:30pm – 11:30pm,  3rd shift 10:30pm – 7:30am 


Job Summary:
The Quality Inspector will be responsible for performing visual, mechanical, and functional inspections of plastic and sheet metal parts, sub-assemblies, and other electronic and electro-mechanical components to ensure conformance to customer specifications. This role includes documenting quality results and providing feedback to engineering teams.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform real-time data entry related to inspections.

  • Inspect products to ensure compliance with customer dimensional and cosmetic requirements.

  • Provide feedback to engineers and maintain accurate logs in the internal database system.

  • Obtain and maintain drawings and procedures from Mack systems.

  • Be available to perform inspections on various production lines as needed.

  • Conduct visual inspections of printed circuit board assemblies at various stages of the assembly process, utilizing IPC-A-610 Standards, visual aides, BOMs, and written procedures.

  • Direct nonconforming products for rework and confirm completion.

  • Interface with source inspectors and prepare documentation packages for first article inspections per P.O. and customer expectations.

  • Perform various segments of first article inspections and process audits to ensure compliance with internal documentation requirements (AMS, MOI, VIP).

  • Ensure proper staging of products and coordination of required processing steps.

  • Conduct customer quality assurance (CQA) inspections, including in-process, final, or incoming inspections as required.

  • Use and verify proper use of routers in IQS software.

  • Read and verify P.O. and drawing requirements.

  • Understand and follow all applicable ISO and job-specific procedures.

  • Maintain ESD integrity within the production environment.

  • Responsible for cleanliness in the work area and surrounding workspace.

  • Ensure accuracy of work-in-process.

  • Participate in additional training as required and may train other employees.

  • Perform other responsibilities as directed necessary for the business.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree in a related field, with a focus on electronics preferred.

  • 2+ years of experience in inspection within a high-volume contract manufacturing environment.

  • IPC-A-600/610/620 Certification required.

  • Familiarity with operating a 3D Automated Optical Inspection (3DAOI) machine is a plus.

  • Capable of performing inspections following blueprint instructions and written procedures.

  • Understanding of basic electro-mechanical tools (multi-meters, calipers, etc.) and hand tools (wrenches, torque drivers, etc.).

  • Ability to interpret detailed drawings, schematics, and diagrams.

  • Experience with an ERP system preferred.

  • Basic computer skills, problem-solving abilities, and mathematical skills required.

  • Strong organizational skills and excellent reading comprehension, written, and verbal communication abilities.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and with high accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment.

  • ESD Training required.

  • ISO 9001 experience is a plus.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours as necessary.

  • Must be a U.S. Person as defined in 22 CFR Part 120.15 (U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, refugees, and those granted asylum in the United States, and temporary residents granted amnesty).
