Job Title: Quality Control Inspector
Pay Rate: $17hr (Based on Experience)
Shift: 1st shift 7am – 3:30pm & 2nd shift 3:30pm – 11:30pm
Duration: Temp to Hire
Summary
The Quality Inspector is responsible for conducting visual, mechanical, and functional inspections of plastic and sheet metal parts, sub-assemblies, and other electronic and electro-mechanical components to ensure conformance with customer specifications. This role involves documenting quality results and providing critical feedback to engineering teams.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform product inspections to verify compliance with dimensional and cosmetic requirements as per customer specifications.
- Conduct visual inspections of printed circuit board assemblies at various stages of assembly, using IPC-A-610 Standards, visual aids, BOMs, written procedures, and verbal instructions.
- Enter inspection data promptly into logbooks and internal database systems (“real-time” data entry).
- Provide feedback to engineers regarding inspection results.
- Retrieve and maintain necessary drawings and procedures from Mack systems.
- Perform inspections across multiple production lines as needed.
- Direct non-conforming products for rework and confirm completion.
- Coordinate with source inspectors and arrange documentation for First Article Inspections (FAI) as required by purchase orders and customer expectations.
- Conduct process audits to ensure compliance with internal documentation, including AMS, MOI, and VIP standards.
- Ensure proper staging of products and coordinate required processing steps.
- Perform Customer Quality Assurance (CQA), in-process, final, or incoming inspections as required.
- Verify correct usage of routers in IQS software.
- Interpret and verify purchase order and drawing requirements.
- Maintain ESD compliance within the production environment.
- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of workspaces.
- Maintain accuracy in tracking work-in-process.
- Participate in and provide training as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support business needs.
Qualifications
- Education: Associate’s Degree in a related field (electronics-focused preferred).
- Experience: 2+ years in inspection within a high-volume, contract-manufacturing environment.
- Certifications: IPC-A-600/610/620 Certification required.
- Proficiency with operating 3D Automated Optical Inspection (3DAOI) machines.
- Ability to perform inspections using blueprints, schematics, and supplier engineering group-provided written procedures.
- Understanding of basic electro-mechanical tools (e.g., multimeters, calipers) and hand tools (e.g., wrenches, torque drivers).
- Familiarity with ERP systems and basic computer skills.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and mathematical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and with precision in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Experience working in high-volume production settings.
- Ability to multitask effectively and collaborate as part of a team.
- Training: ESD training required.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards is required.
- Flexibility to work varying hours as needed.
- Must be a U.S. Person as defined by 22 CFR Part 120.15 (U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, refugees, asylees, or temporary residents with amnesty) due to work involving ITAR-controlled technical data.
