We are seeking a skilled Punch Operator to join a metals manufacturing team located in Lake Mary, Florida.

Job Title: Punch Operator
Salary Range: Up to $17.00 per hour (based on experience)
Type of Position: Full-time / Temp to perm
Schedule: 2nd shift 2:30pm – 11:00pm


Job Summary:
The candidate will operate a computer-controlled punch machine to produce blanks for additional manufacturing processes or finished flat parts. You will be responsible for ensuring that production requirements are met accurately and efficiently.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate the punch machine and check parts using calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.

  • Load the correct program into the control system to produce parts and quantities as specified.

  • Measure parts to ensure conformity to print specifications.

  • Assess supplied materials to ensure they meet production requirements.

  • Remove cut pieces from sheets and examine them for defects, focusing on edge quality and surface nonconformities.

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work area in compliance with facility housekeeping policies (6S Standards).

  • Wear required safety equipment and adhere to safety policies.

  • Fill out production tags accurately to identify produced parts (Identification and Traceability).

  • Perform basic setups involving prewritten programs and read blueprints to determine required characteristics for monitoring.

  • Receive on-the-job training from the cell supervisor and understand the Company Quality Policy and Quality Objectives.

  • Assist the Cell Leader in introducing Continuous Improvement ideas.

  • Place HOLD tags on products deemed suspect (Nonconforming Material Control).

  • Complete production paperwork, including quality and timekeeping records, and assist in In-Process and Final Audit Reports.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Instruct team members on addressing edge quality concerns and proper stacking of parts.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Punch Operator experience

  • Willingness to work overtime as required.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Must be able to kneel, crouch, reach, and lift frequently.

  • Safety glasses and shoes must be worn in all manufacturing areas.

  • Hearing protection is required in posted areas and optional in unmarked areas.
