POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Provides the Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, and patients with the support services they need to for therapy services by calling on insurance benefits, tracking authorization deadlines, and obtaining therapy referrals.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Medical Office experience including knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, CPT codes and insurance highly preferred.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Verify all therapy patients’ insurance coverage and document it accordingly in patient chart
- Insurance Authorization and Medicare, Medicaid Compliance.
- Check for referrals and therapy visit authorizations.
- Fax or utilize insurance website portals to request authorization of therapy visits.
- Monitor number of therapy visits used within EMR system.
- Inform therapists of insurance requirement changes and coverage limitations on case-by-case basis.
- Perform designated tasks listed in the “PT only” and “No Therapy Coverage” policies.
- Fax/ upload into Forward Health portal and look over all Medical Assistance prior authorization forms. Contact Medical Assistance as needed regarding patients and what is covered.
- Document information disclosure as needed when faxes sent out
- Daily communication with therapy team
- Communicate work completion status and help needs with team members as needed

- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and peripheral vision.
