What’s a typical day as Financial Aid Specialist? You’ll be:

  • Providing information and assistance in all aspects of the financial aid process.

  • Performing technical duties to support the Student Financial Resources and Scholarship Department.

  • Advising and coaching students from diverse backgrounds through the financial aid application and awarding process.

  • Facilitating pre-awarding eligibility determination and resolving ineligibility issues.

  • Making corrections and assisting in the verification of students’ FAFSAs.

  • Monitoring and evaluating financial aid awards for disbursement.

  • Investigating and troubleshooting inquiries/complaints to determine resolution.

  • Assisting Financial Aid Managers with communication management and administration of aid programs.

  • Utilizing technology effectively for various tasks and database management.

  • Assisting veteran students with VA benefits, applications, and maintaining records.

This job might be an outstanding fit if you:

  • Hold an earned Associate Degree or higher in Accounting, Business Administration, Business Information Systems, or Computer Information Systems, or any Associate Degree with 16 college credit hours in relevant fields.

  • Have two years of customer service experience.

  • Possess knowledge of federal, state, and institutional financial aid regulations, policies, and procedures.

  • Have experience with the financial aid application process for federal, state, and institutional programs.

  • Are adept at using technology including Outlook, ACD phones, Colleague, and various federal and state software.

  • Can work effectively in a multi-cultural diverse working environment.
