Position: Payroll Specialist
Location: Moss Landing, CA
Schedule: 8:00AM – 5:00PM (some flexibility)
Pay Rate: $43.00 – $53.00/HR

Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist for a Temp-to-Hire position in Moss Landing, CA. This position is responsible for processing payroll and payroll-related transactions in accordance with federal and state regulations and organizational policies. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of IRC Regulations, California Labor Law, and accrual accounting as it relates to payroll.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Process Payroll: Utilize Deltek CostPoint to calculate gross payroll from over 200 timesheets, including adjustments and taxable fringe benefits.

  2. Process Insurance Payments: Calculate and review payroll-related payments, including federal and state taxes, retirement contributions, and employee benefits.

  3. Quarterly and Annual Payroll Filings: Prepare and reconcile quarterly filings (federal form 941 and CA DE9) and annual filings (W-2 and W-3), ensuring timely electronic submissions.

  4. Employee Benefits Management: Review employee benefits eligibility and status changes, ensuring compliance with ACA and other regulations.

  5. Monitor Employee Transactions: Maintain timely processing of payroll-related transactions, including authorized deductions and transfers of labor between projects.

  6. Monthly Reconciliation: Reconcile payroll accounts monthly to ensure accuracy and alignment with supporting schedules.

  7. External Audit Support: Prepare and maintain payroll schedules for audits, collaborating with external agencies as needed.

Qualifications:

  • A.A. degree in Business or related field, with 7-10 years of demonstrated experience in payroll processing.

  • Proficient in payroll and accounting software, as well as spreadsheet applications.

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with diverse groups.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information appropriately.

  • Experience with Paylocity is a PLUS
