Remote Structural Engineer
 
Kelly® Engineering is seeking a Remote Structural Engineer for a 6+ month contract position with an Engineering firm that specializes in nuclear energy projects. Our client has offices in the Chicago and Atlanta areas and prefer for an individual that resides in either the Eastern or Central time zones. Overview 
 
Our client is global engineering firm that specializes in electrical power generation, transmission & distribution. They have 2500+ employees that focus on planning & design, engineering, construction, and maintenance. Their nuclear power generating team adding a Structural Engineer to support ongoing growth.

In this role, you will have expertise in pipe support calculations, structural design, and will be capable of conducting plant walkdowns. You will review laser scan files for clearance evaluations and utilizing engineering software tools for analysis.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform pipe support calculations and develop associated drawings.

  • Conduct plant walkdowns to assess structural integrity and compliance.

  • Review and evaluate laser scan files for clearance evaluations.

  • Utilize MathCAD, AISC steel, and Hilti anchor bolt specifications to ensure accuracy in design and calculations.

  • Provide design verification for structural integrity and support systems.

  • Prepare written documentation, reports, and technical communications.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure project requirements are met on time and within budget.

  • Support the engineering team with any other related duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or related field.

  • 3-5+ years of relevant engineering experience required, with nuclear power plant experience, highly preferred.

    • Experience in pipe support calculations and associated structural design.

    • Familiarity with reviewing laser scan data and performing clearance evaluations.

    • Proficiency with MathCAD & AISC steel design standards, required and Hilti anchor bolts, highly preferred.

  • Proven ability to prepare technical documentation and reports.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Execute work during normal business hours – team works 9 hours Monday-Thursday, 4 hours on Friday
