What a typical day as a Quality Assurance might look like:
- Conduct multiple analyses on raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished products to ensure compliance with company and customer specifications.
- Measure quantifiable product attributes, including weight, temperature, tail length, tenderloin diameter, etc.
- Make subjective decisions regarding the general appearance of products.
- Inspect and grade products daily, recording results on appropriate logs.
- Identify and determine product non-conformance, communicating findings with department managers to ensure appropriate product disposition.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by inspecting products thoroughly, verifying size, origin, and count before shipment.
- Notify order selectors when there is doubt about the quality or accuracy of the pulled product.
- Perform HACCP Monitoring & Verification activities daily for Raw Not Ground and Raw Ground processes at specialty meat companies.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections and collaborate with teams to continuously improve product quality.
This job might be an outstanding fit if you:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certifications in food safety, quality assurance, or related fields preferred.
- Experience in quality control or quality assurance, preferably in a food production or distribution environment.
- Knowledge of HACCP principles and experience with HACCP Monitoring & Verification in meat processing is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately measure product attributes and make quality assessments.
- Ability to effectively communicate findings and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Proficient in record-keeping and maintaining inspection logs.
- Comfortable working in cold storage and warehouse environments.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks while ensuring compliance with quality standards.
