Kelly Science & Clinical is seeking a Short/Temp Assignment for an Animal Cage Washer adding supporting Animal Research Facility in La Jolla. 

  • Location: La Jolla, CA

  • Pay Rate: $19-22/hour DOE

  • Hours: 7:00am to 3:30pm Monday-Friday (might include weekend/holiday work availability). (Approx. start time)

  • Possible quick start – in 48 hours-and open to start if the client needs you to start.

  • ***This position is just a “Short/Temp Assignment” might be a month or longer adding support to the Animal Husbandry team. This position is primarily a Animal Cage washing.

We are excited to be hiring an Animal Science Technician for a leading research institution who will be responsible for routine animal health-related tasks on a group of assigned laboratory animals. This is a great opportunity to care for animal husbandry (Not a Laboratory position) and be part of a prestigious research team. 

Responsibilities

  • Breeds, raises, and cares for small research animals. Follows proper breeding and animal care procedures

  • Clean/wash cages, replace bedding, ensure water and food is properly maintained and stocked in each cage

  • Monitors animal behavior and physical attributes to ensure animal health and confirm appropriate phenotype, reports any findings, ensures biosecurity

  • Ability to administer medication to laboratory animals: oral, topical, injectable (can include euthanasia)

  • Perform physical environment cleanliness. Upkeep and maintain record-keeping and production operations according to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

  • Order and operate equipment and use supplies according to safety guidelines

  • May coordinate limited production activities in the temporary absence of the supervisor

  • Operate computer, maintain records on animal deliveries, print and maintain all cage identification

  • May perform other related duties as required and/or assigned

Qualifications

  • B.S. Degree in Animal Science or related field OR

  • High School Diploma or Associates Degree with at least one year of hands-on animal care experience
