We at Kelly® are seeking Machine Operators to work at a premier Food Manufacturing company in Harrisonburg, VA.
This is a great opportunity for a career position for experience machine operators with over a year experience.
SHIFT OPTIONS:
- 1st shift- Rotating 2-2-3 7am- 7pm- $20.00/ hour
What’s a typical day as a Production Operator?
EXTRACTOR OPERATOR
• Operate the extractors as detailed in the operation manual. Monitor the trends closely.
• Drain the collection tanks after each extraction & clean heat exchangers weekly.
• Keep the residue and screw press areas clean.
• Clean the pit at the rotor screen daily and the outside drain weekly.
• Operate the mezzanine during feeding and rinse down the conveyer after the last extraction.
• Perform bi-weekly trend saves on the centum computer.
• Keep the control room clean and organized.
• Empty the trashcans daily in the control room.
EVAPORATOR OPERATOR
• Operate the evaporators as detailed in the operation manual.
• Pack the products and keep the packing utensils clean & sanitized. This is critical to prevent contamination.
• Collect samples of all products packed and take them to the lab.
• Maintain the floors around the evaporators and mixing mezzanine.
• Wrap and strap the spacecrafts after packing is complete.
• Perform a chemical wash on the assigned equipment on Monday mornings.
• Foam all tanks, lines, and equipment every day or as needed.
• Wash, by hand, the mixing tanks as specified by customer demands.
SHARPLES OPERATOR
• Operate the Sharples as detailed in the operational manual.
• Pack the fat and keep the packing utensils clean & sanitized. This is critical to prevent contamination.
• Collect samples of all products packed and take them to the lab.
• Maintain the floors in the extractor room and around the vibrating screens.
• Clean the vibrating screens after each batch.
• Perform a chemical wash on the assigned equipment on Monday mornings.
• Foam all tanks, lines, and equipment every day or as needed.
Additional Job Requirements.
1. Follow all safety and OSHA guidelines.
2. Follow all regulations and procedures as specified by USDA, FDA, DEQ, and Ariake.
• HACCP
• SSOP’s
• GMP’s
• Master Cleaning Schedule
3. Be productive and follow the standard operating times.
4. Keep all areas clean. Examples: Discard rubber bands found on the floor, empty the trash receptacles, and clean the floors.
5. Have the ability to lift at least fifty pounds.
6. Make the highest quality product possible.
7. Complete assigned paperwork on a timely basis.
8. Perform basic preventive maintenance on equipment.
9. Document and report any concerns to your supervisor.
10. Assist other operators in the production department as time permits. This promotes Teamwork and makes processing run more efficiently.
11. Perform tasks as required by management. If you are not sure what to do, ask your supervisor.

- Have good command of the English language, both written and spoken
- Have good verbal, written and organizational skills
- Can lift 50 pounds repeatedly and climb ladders if needed
