Kelly is seeking a Human Resources Specialist to work with our manufacturing client at their Chicago-based plant on a direct hire basis – starting ASAP! This is an excellent opportunity to join an innovative company that has been successful for over 85 years.

The HR Specialist will:

  • Perform data entry into HRIS for all new hires, changes, LOAs and terminations

  • Maintain HRIS accuracy for all employee records

  • Review timecards and ensure accurate timekeeping prior to payroll being processed

  • Answer payroll and benefit related questions

  • Assist in handling leave management for the site (FMLA, STD, ADA, W/C)

  • Facilitate new hire orientations

  • Assist in onboarding employees

  • Recruit for hourly employees, work with temporary agencies, and manage agency relationships

  • Facilitate the internal job promotion and interview process

  • Serve as first point of contact for employees with HR needs

  • Coordinate and facilitate a variety of employee meetings and engagement events

  • Ensure proper record keeping and employee file maintenance

  • Update and maintain current job descriptions

  • Track, monitor, and coach employees and supervisors on weekly attendance

  • Assist EHS Coordinator to ensure compliance with annual Safety and Health compliance training

  • Assist with employee relations issues including but not limited to counseling, coaching, and corrective actions

  • Support the creation of reward and recognition programs to drive performance in alignment with business objectives

  • Ensure compliance with Chicago ordinances and state and federal regulations as well as annual trainings

  • Assist with union and non-union employees

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 3+ years of previous HR experience

  • Manufacturing experience highly preferred

  • Bilingual in Cantonese or Spanish a plus

  • Excellent verbal and written skills, ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels within the organization

  • Professionalism at all times and treating others with respect and appreciation

  • Must work well in a fast-paced environment and under pressure with competing priorities

  • Accept responsibility for own actions and ensure strong follow-up on commitments

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation
