Position: CNC Machinist
Location: Santa Cruz, CA
Schedule: Monday – Friday, and some Saturdays (half or full day)
Hours: 7:00AM – 3:30PM (plus OT when needed)

Pay Rate: $26.00 – $29.00/HR

Job Description: 

We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist in Santa Cruz, CA. As a CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for creating machine parts and tools using precision computer equipment. You will set up, adjust, and maintain all equipment used in your daily job activities, ensuring that all manufacturing processes meet customer and ISO standard requirements.

Primary Equipment Used: 5 Axis  -  CNC Swiss Screw Machine

Responsibilities:

  • Set up, adjust, and maintain equipment used in CNC milling and lathe operations

  • Operate machines in accordance with company standards, policies, and procedures

  • Maximize machine uptime and part yield

  • Perform checks, including start up and shut down, on assigned machines

  • Perform in-process inspections on parts and report any discrepancies

  • Obtain and return appropriate materials from the tool crib, including raw materials and tooling

  • Enter accurate data into the MRP/ERP system

  • Seek help or guidance when needed

  • Use precision tools to measure parts accurately

  • Read and interpret drawings and data

Skills:

  • Proficiency in measuring parts using tools such as micrometers, calipers, and optical comparators

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions

  • Attention to detail and accuracy

  • Proficiency in using an eye-loop or microscope at 5x magnification

  • Dexterity to handle small parts successfully

  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and data

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Vocational school or apprenticeship preferred

  • Experience using and/or programming manual, semi-automated, or automated tools and machines (lathes, grinders, etc.)

  • Ability to use precision tools (e.g., calipers) to take accurate measurements

  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and manuals

  • Outstanding mathematical skills and analytical abilities

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to access and navigate the operations and production areas safely

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds if needed

  • Ability to work with standard power tools
