Job Description

Position Title: Regulatory Compliance Specialist
Location: Westfield, VT (Remote work with on-site visits as needed)
Duration: 6-12 months before conversion (+health benefits during contract period)
Estimated Rate: $46/hr-$56/hr

Overview:
We are seeking a Regulatory Compliance Consultant with a strong background in regulatory and manufacturing procedures compliant with FDA, ISO, MoCRA, and GMP standards, specifically within the cosmetics and personal care industry. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in updating and aligning Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) with the latest industry regulations, implementing a vendor management program, and facilitating employee training on regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • SOP Updates:

    • Review and update existing SOPs to ensure compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and industry standards for personal care products, including cosmetics, skincare, haircare, and other personal care items.

    • Ensure that SOPs reflect the latest scientific research and safety assessments related to cosmetic formulations and ingredient use.

  • Vendor Management Program:

    • Establish a comprehensive vendor management program, including a product questionnaire to evaluate raw material suppliers within the cosmetic industry.

    • Ensure that suppliers provide all necessary documentation to support product purity, quality, and regulatory compliance, including adherence to IFRA compliance, Prop 65, and non-testing on animals, specifically in the context of cosmetic products.

    • Evaluate raw materials for safety and efficacy, ensuring they meet both company standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Employee Training:

    • Develop and deliver training sessions for existing employees on the latest regulatory standards specific to the cosmetics industry, focusing on the relevance to Safety Data Sheets (SDS), Technical Data Sheets (TDS), and overall product safety and efficacy.

    • Educate employees on emerging trends and regulations in cosmetic safety and sustainability, including regulatory changes affecting ingredient labeling, claims substantiation, and environmental considerations.

  • Documentation and Electronic Records Transition:

    • Assist in transitioning from manual record-keeping to electronic systems for managing SDS, Certificates of Analysis (COA), and other regulatory documentation pertinent to personal care products.

    • Support documentation requests related to final product SDS and raw material information as needed, ensuring compliance with cosmetic product regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in regulatory compliance and manufacturing within the cosmetics or personal care industry.

  • In-depth knowledge of FDA, ISO, MoCRA, and GMP standards as they apply to cosmetic products.

  • Proven experience in developing and implementing SOPs, vendor management programs, and employee training initiatives tailored to the cosmetics sector.

  • Familiarity with current trends in cosmetic formulation, safety assessments, and sustainability practices in the industry.

  • Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail and the ability to navigate complex regulatory environments.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote setting while effectively managing on-site visits.

This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on compliance processes while supporting a team committed to maintaining the highest standards in product safety and quality within the cosmetics industry. If you are a proactive, detail-oriented professional with a passion for regulatory compliance in the personal care sector, we encourage you to apply.
