Structural Steel Estimator
Location: Southeast TX
Employment Type: Full-Time
Pay Range: $32 – $40/hour, DOE
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Structural Steel Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in structural steel cost estimation and fabrication, with the ability to confidently handle subcontractor pricing and calculate manhours for projects of varying scope.
Responsibilities:
- Perform weight, manhour, cost, and schedule calculations for industrial and commercial structural steel projects ranging from $1,000 to $25MM+.
- Fully comprehend and interpret structural steel design drawings.
- Obtain and evaluate subcontractor pricing confidently and accurately.
- Calculate manhours required for steel fabrication in a shop environment.
- Communicate bid questions or relevant information clearly and concisely to subcontractors and clients.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with CNC steel processing equipment.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or GED is required. A degree in Manufacturing/Construction Management or Engineering is preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of estimating experience and substantial experience in a steel fabrication shop.
- Strongly prefer 5+ years of estimating experience and 5+ years of construction manufacturing.
- Minimum of 2 years of estimating experience and substantial experience in a steel fabrication shop.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Ability to quickly and accurately perform mathematical calculations.

Requirements:
- Strong background in structural steel cost estimation.
- Thorough understanding of structural steel fabrication techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret structural steel design drawings.
