Location: Towson, MD
Pay Rate: $23/hr
Employment Type: Onsite, Contract – Initial Contract Length is 5 Months, possibility of extending

Position Overview:
We are seeking a Test Technician to join a dynamic team at a leading manufacturer of high-performance battery-powered tools in Towson, MD. In this hands-on role, you will be at the forefront of ensuring that the company’s products meet rigorous quality standards and perform as expected. You will follow established testing protocols to verify the functionality and performance of battery-powered tools, ensuring they meet specifications for safety, durability, and overall quality before reaching customers.

This is a critical role in the product development and quality assurance process. You will work closely with the engineering team to provide crucial data and feedback, which will directly contribute to the refinement and improvement of existing products and the development of new ones.

Key Responsibilities:
Conduct Product Testing:
Perform a variety of tests on battery-powered tools to ensure they meet required performance standards. This includes testing the functionality of tools, verifying battery performance, and assessing overall product quality by inserting batteries into the test tools and operating them through established test cycles.

Follow Established Protocols:
Ensure all testing is carried out according to the standardized procedures defined by the engineering team. Follow precise guidelines to ensure consistent, repeatable test results. Adapt testing procedures as needed, under the guidance of senior engineers, for new or updated products.

Prepare Test Equipment & Fixtures:
Assemble, modify, and prepare testing fixtures, tools, and equipment required for testing. You’ll work with limited supervision to set up test environments, ensuring all necessary equipment is in good working order and ready for use.

Monitor and Operate Tests:
Actively monitor both manual and automated test procedures, ensuring all systems are functioning properly. Track the progress of testing, intervene when necessary, and ensure tests run smoothly and on schedule.

Document and Report Results:
Record detailed test results in an organized and accurate manner. Write comprehensive test reports that communicate findings clearly and concisely. Provide valuable data to the engineering team, helping them identify issues, optimize designs, or confirm performance expectations.

Collaborate with Engineering Team:
Work closely with engineers (including mechanical, electrical, and software engineers) to share findings, troubleshoot issues, and gather feedback. Participate in discussions on product specifications, design modifications, and quality assurance processes.

Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities for improvement in testing procedures, equipment, and reporting processes. Share insights that help the team refine product designs and enhance testing efficiency.

Test Product Variants and Prototypes:
Conduct testing on prototype models or new product variants as they are developed. This may involve testing new battery configurations, design changes, or alternative components to validate functionality and performance.

Ensure Equipment Operational Status:
Regularly check and maintain testing equipment to ensure all tools are operational and capable of accurately measuring and testing product performance. Troubleshoot and resolve minor equipment issues as they arise.

Compliance & Safety:
Follow all safety and compliance guidelines while performing tests. Ensure that all testing environments and protocols adhere to industry regulations and company safety standards.

Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent (technical degree or certification is a plus).

Experience:
1-3 years of experience in a testing, quality assurance, or technician role, preferably in a manufacturing or product development environment.
Familiarity with battery-powered tools and related components (preferred but not required).
Experience with manual and automated testing systems, as well as proficiency in handling basic test equipment.

Skills:
Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow strict protocols.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and troubleshoot issues with products or test equipment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for documenting test results and reporting findings.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a collaborative environment.
Comfort working with test equipment, tools, and basic assembly techniques.
Familiarity with test result documentation, data analysis, and report generation.
