We are seeking a skilled Journeyman Maintenance Repairman to join our large cement manufacturing plant in Clinchfield, GA. 

The successful candidate will perform various mechanical maintenance, repair, and installation tasks across the plant. This role requires a commitment to safety, quality, and compliance with company policies, and includes responding to emergency situations as needed.

Job Title: Journeyman Maintenance Repairman
Pay Rate: $35.26 per hour
Hours: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday
Location: Clinchfield, Georgia (must reside within 1 hour)

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Perform all tasks safely and professionally, adhering to plant rules, quality standards, and company policies.

  2. Conduct workplace examinations and correct any deficiencies or take appropriate action to ensure a safe work environment.

  3. Inspect, repair, replace, install, troubleshoot, and maintain all mechanical plant equipment.

  4. Perform layout and fabrication of parts using blueprints, sketches, and equipment manuals.

  5. Conduct professional welding, pipe fitting, cutting, and heat-treating on various metals.

  6. Respond to emergency callouts as needed.

  7. Inspect equipment for defects such as misalignment, wear, or insufficient lubrication.

  8. Erect and maintain structural steel.

  9. Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on equipment.

  10. Install and maintain equipment foundations, including setting anchor bolts, shimming, grouting, and alignment.

  11. Operate simple machine tools and, if needed, machinist tools (e.g., lathe, milling machine, drill press).

  12. Perform rigging tasks and work out of crane baskets or man-lifts.

  13. Train other employees and direct hourly employees or contractors as required.

  14. Maintain clean and orderly work areas, document maintenance records, and participate in team meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 8000 hours of millwright experience.

  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to read blueprints.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

  • Capable of physically performing essential job functions.

  • Willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.

  • Must pass the written journeyman maintenance test administered by the Maintenance Manager.

  • Two-year technical degree preferred.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to perform tasks safely while meeting plant standards and policies.

  • Mechanical and numerical reasoning skills.

  • Must adhere to Procurement guidelines for securing repair parts, supplies, and materials.
