Kelly Engineering is recruiting for an Electrical Engineer for our esteemed client based in Lake Charles, LA. Our client operates a large petrochemical plant specializing in ethylene and MEG processes. In this role, you will optimize electrical systems, troubleshoot and resolve issues, support capital projects, collaborate on equipment strategies, and ensure compliance with Process Safety Management (PSM). This exciting opportunity includes premium pay, up to a 15% bonus, relocation assistance, and 100% company-paid benefits.
What You’ll Do:
- Ensure the seamless performance of motors, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), switchgear, substations, and other critical electrical components.
- Handle day-to-day troubleshooting activities, address grounding issues, and maintain system integrity and safety.
- Perform root cause failure analyses (RCFAs) for equipment failures and participate in incident investigations.
- Lead and support capital design projects, including the replacement of obsolete electrical equipment.
- Work with cross-functional teams to develop equipment strategies aimed at enhancing reliability and minimizing downtime.
- Stay up-to-date with industry codes, standards, and OSHA requirements to ensure all electrical engineering activities meet compliance.
- Apply your knowledge in Process Safety Management (PSM) to comply with specific applicable codes and requirements in PSM-covered facilities.
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in electrical engineering within the oil and gas industry.
- Hands-on experience with motors, VFDs, switchgear, substations, preventive maintenance (PM) programs, load calculations, and relay settings.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues effectively.
- Skilled in performing root cause failure analyses (RCFAs) and participating in incident investigations.
- Familiarity with Process Safety Management (PSM) and understanding of related codes and requirements.
- Ability to communicate effectively across teams and departments.
