This job role is listed as a Characterization Analyst in the Analytical Labs within PSPH Characterization. Analysts are required, once trained, to prepare samples, operate instrument, and coordinate with team members to conduct analysis. Some of the daily tasks include but are not limited to receiving samples, packaging and disposing of waste per RCRA regulations, preparing polymer samples, handling solvents, documenting experiments, operating of the instrument, communicating with scientists and peers and general housekeeping task.

The job role requires a strong troubleshooting ability, the ability to make decisions quickly, a flexible work schedule to complete a set of given experiments, keeping up with appropriate documentation of experiments, attention to detail to understand the background of the requests regarding the sample origin & targeted applications, and participating in safety related programs such as safety checks and proper PPE. The high throughput instrument requires a high level of maintenance to minimize the downtime and good decision-making ability to balance priorities and respond to instrument issues, in order to meet the requirements from our clients. There is potential for overtime in the role.

The successful candidate must possess:
• The ability to learn quickly and follow detailed directions
• At least two years of lab experience in the relevant field of practice
• Utmost respect for safety culture and safe work ethic
• Strong observation skills to make keen observations during experiments
• The ability to work independently and multitask effectively
