Additional Information:

  • Flexible 1st shift hours: Start between 6-8 am.

  • Pay range: $21-$26/hr. (depending on experience

Assembly Technician II performs product development work on medical devices in the Development department, supporting objectives to provide goods and services that meet customer requirements for quality, quantity, and timeliness. This role involves working directly with project engineers to build pilot production quantities of new products and conducting testing of products and components using various techniques, tools, and equipment.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Produce small, assembled parts according to verbal and written procedures.

  • Work independently with minimal supervision, completing assignments accurately and timely.

  • Maintain confidentiality in line with company policy.

  • Adhere to safety requirements.

  • Operate equipment such as adhesive dispensers, vertical shrinkers, braiders, tipping machines, drilling, punching, and measuring devices to assemble catheters and parts.

  • Maintain records of materials used, procedures followed, and inspection features on supplied data forms (LHR, etc.).

  • Track materials, tools, and procedures during device manufacturing.

  • Verify incoming materials meet purchase order specifications.

  • Support project engineers with modifications in written procedures and improvement suggestions.

  • Perform testing of devices or components as per written protocols and test procedures.

Qualifications:

    • Fluent in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding English.

    • Previous assembly experience.

    • Able to work with small hand tools and under a microscope for an 8+ hour shift.

    • Experience using tools such as calipers, micrometers, scalpels, soldering irons, and tweezers.

    • High school diploma or equivalent.

    • Previous medical device assembly experience.

    • Degree or certifications above a high school diploma or GED.

    • Determination to understand the requirements and skillset needed for complex projects.


Education:

  • Associate or higher degree in a related science field or equivalent experience.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience, medical device experience preferred.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Technical skills in plastic part assembly, adhesive bonding, materials knowledge, and prototyping.

  • Detail-oriented and able to read/interpret engineering drawings and procedures.

  • Understanding of measurement units, taking, and comprehending measurements.

  • Dexterity with hands for working with small parts.

Physical Demands:

  • Sit, stand, use hands, arms, and fingers for routine tasks like computer use, telephoning, faxing, copying, filing, etc.

  • Normal vision and hearing required, with the ability to communicate effectively in person, on the telephone, or via written communication.

  • Primarily work in a laboratory environment but also required in manufacturing environments.
