Job Purpose: Under the supervision of the Shift Foreman, the Slitter Operator SO is responsible for the Slitting area, including monitoring the of web, documentation of paper work, packaging, process changes and cleaning of the slitter area.

Roles Responsibilities: The SO is directly responsible for the accuracy of his/her work and for decisions affecting the quality of shipments, the condition of his/her equipment and the efficiency of the Slitting operation.
Duties include :
1. SAFETY is top priority in slitting area. The equipment is extremely dangerous and one must use caution working around mechanical equipment, moving parts and safety hazards, nip points etc.
2. SET-UP of slitter for a scheduled production run and for off-line slitting, including some mechanical and equipment adjustments.
3. RESPONSIBLE for monitoring web quality for the production run.
4. RESPONSIBLE for record keeping and documentation related to production run and slit measurements.
5. RESPONSIBLE for packaging and labelling of orders.
6. COMMUNICATES with winder operator and carding operator during production.
7 COMMUNICATES with shift foremen and other shift slitter operators and helpers the status of current production run and other related issues.
8 CLEANING of slitter area both throughout the day and before shift change.
9 PERFORMS other duties as assigned by foremen. 

Education, Skills Experience The SO must be an individual with an amount of responsibility, dependability, motivation, safety awareness, mechanical and mathematics ability. These qualities are required because this operator will be working with and around equipment that can be extremely dangerous, unless properly utilized. A mistake or carelessness could result in harm to self or fellow employees, damage to the equipment or excessive waste. The SO must be capable of working under general supervision and acting on his own initiative when necessary. Accuracy and attention to detail are critical features for the SO.
