Senior Consumables NPD Engineer (Contract-to-Hire)
Location: Onsite in Sunnyvale, CA
Hourly Rate: $55 – $75 per hour (based on experience)
About the Role: Are you a driven engineer with a passion for transforming ideas into real-world solutions? As a Senior Consumables NPD Engineer, you’ll lead groundbreaking new product development projects in consumables for the medical device industry. This role offers an opportunity to take ownership of mechanical design, materials, automation, and injection molding to create scalable, high-quality products for large-scale production.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead engineering studies and design iterations for mechanical systems, automation, and plastic consumables, from prototype fabrication to production.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to move products from concept through production with a focus on Design for Manufacturing (DfM), performance, and cost optimization.
- Create verification and validation protocols, and manage design transfer into production, ensuring compliance with FDA and ISO standards.
- Work closely with vendors and internal teams to ensure high-quality part delivery and conduct root cause analysis on product performance.
What You Bring:
- Experience: 5-7 years in engineering, with expertise in injection molding, plastic part design, high-volume manufacturing, and statistical analysis.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in FMEA, SPC, DOE, FI, and RCA, plus statistical tools (MATLAB, R, Minitab, Excel).
- Preferred: SolidWorks skills, experience in project management, and familiarity with Quality Management Systems and PCR technology integration.
