Kelly Government Solutions is hiring for a system safety engineer 3 on a government contract with our customer in Northridge, CA.  This is a contract to hire assignment.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Activities include system safety analysis of military weapon systems, participation in risk assessments/resolution and mishap investigations.

  • The ideal candidate will have experience with MIL-STD-882E and familiarity with military and their equivalent industry standards such as MIL-STD-882, RCC 319, AFSPCMAN 91-710, ASTM, ANSI, NEC, AFOSH, AOP-52, JOTP-051, PESHE and NFPA.

Required:

  • BS in electrical engineering or relevant degree with nine (9) years of relevant/related experience or a MS in electrical engineering or relevant degree with seven (7) years of relevant/related experience

  • Demonstrated ability in the application of MIL-STD-882E to analyze, recommend, and drive safety into system design, equipment, and procedures in order to mitigate or eliminate hazards

  • Experience documenting hazards with a closed-loop Hazard Tracking System (HTS)

  • Familiarity with electrical circuit design

  • Demonstrated ability to apply system safety engineering principles to develop safety documentation in accordance with MIL-STD-882E such as SSPP, PHA, FHA, SHA/SuSHA, Bent Pin Analyses, FTA, SAR, and Software Safety Analyses

  • Demonstrated ability to develop, review, update, and approve system safety artifacts and system safety requirements

  • History of demonstrated leadership capabilities, ability to work independently, and effectively communicate (verbal and written) with internal and external customers

  • Possess active DoD Security Clearance (investigation completed within last five years)

  • Looking for those who have done the analyses and who creates/updates reports, not someone who only reviews the results/output and provides feedback

Preferred:

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical circuit schematics

  • Experience with implementing and testing software safety requirements

  • Have experience in the design of missile systems

  • Strong working knowledge of military system safety and process standards and their Industry equivalent such as MIL-STD-882, RCC 319, AFSPCMAN 91-710, ASTM, ANSI, NEC, AFOSH, AOP-52, JOTP-051, PESHE, NFPA

  • Knowledge of System Safety Incident Investigation process
