Kelly Engineering is seeking an experienced Maintenance Planner for an exciting, long-term opportunity in Orange, Texas!

Job Summary
Creates job packages from the work order scope which contains all of the information regarding required labor material and services to ensure safe, effective and efficient execution of the work. Requires broadened technical skills in analytical/scientific methods or operational processes to perform a defined array of activities. May act as an informal resource for team members with less experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Uses feedback from the person doing the work to optimize the work plans.

  • Reviews work orders for technical completeness and returns work orders to gatekeeper, if not complete.

  • Carries out field checks, when needed.

  • Prepares job package and inputs plan into Global Engineering and Maintenance Tracking System SAP indicating the required resources, materials, and services.

  • Identifies task activities necessary to execute job plan and identifies materials/tools/equipment required to perform tasks.

  • Identifies/solicits safety information and requirements necessary to safely perform tasks.

  • Supports Maintenance Procedure Use Policy by ensuring all job packages include a procedure or the task is on the Procedure Exemption list before the job package is released. Checks that all Maintenance Procedures include a hazard assessment.

  • Serves as a technical resource during procedure creation and review, as needed. Creates, develops, changes, updates job procedures and checklists, and initiates procedure Management of Change (MOC), as required.

  • Make field visits when needed to complete job plans.

  • Review work orders for job scope completeness and return to Gatekeeper if incomplete.

  • Prepare job packet in SAP to include Labor, tools, equip., materials, & services needed to complete job.

  • Use Quality Feedback from “Do work” person to optimize/archive job plans.

  • When possible, use “Archived” job plans for basis of actual plans.

  • Move jobs to “Active” backlog when material availability is confirmed.

  • Identify task activities necessary to execute job plan.

  • Identify/solicit safety information and requirements to perform job tasks.

  • Record tasks and information within the work order.

  • Make cost a consideration in planning.

  • Use measurement process to track planning effectiveness.

  • Sharing responsibility for afterhours Point of Contact call with others

  • Work injury and accident free.

  • Complete all required training for department

Required Qualifications:

  • 2 or more years of industrial maintenance experience.

  • Able to work 5/8 hour days (Mon-Friday)

  • Able to work overtime and call-outs which will be required after-hours depending on work to be done.

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. 

  • No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations:

  • Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting

  • Stand/Walk for extended periods of time

  • Work at heights, climb stairs and ladders.

  • Work in tight and closed in spaces.

  • Wear all required personal protective equipment, including but not limited to respirator.

  • Work in an area of intense or continuous noise.

  • Work in an area with hazardous materials.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a Planner role.

  • Previous experience working in a chemical plant production facility

  • Maintenance or craft experience.

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.

  • Mechanical aptitude

  • Proficient in SAP and Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.

  • Be proficient in computers to perform job tasks.

  • Have strong Interpersonal, Facilitative, and Organizational skills.

  • Effectively interacts with multiple functions and diverse individuals to achieve goals.

  • Demonstrates excellent decision-making skills and the ability to prioritize appropriately.

  • Effectively manages multiple competing priorities.

  • Has strong troubleshooting skills.

  • Has strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Able to communicate with a very diverse population which is spread across the site.

  • Strong reading comprehension and listening skills.

  • Strong multi-tasking, problem solving and time management skills.

  • Demonstrate leadership skills – inspire others and lead them through influence.

  • Able to work with independently with minimal supervision within an empowered team environment.
