Associate R&D Chemist – Pacoima, CA
 
Position Overview:
The Associate R&D Chemist works independently to develop, analyze, and improve products using new and existing raw materials. Responsibilities include product matching, costing, and overseeing prototype testing. Some supervisory duties may be involved, directing assistants and technicians. This role collaborates with Quality Control, Production, and Sales teams, with occasional customer interaction.
 
Details:

  • Pay range: $30 – $33/hr

  • Shift: Mon-Fri 8am – 4:30pm

  • Duration: Temp-to-Hire (Roughly 6 month conversion)

 
Responsibilities:

  • Develop and enhance products, including juice concentrates and flavors, per customer or internal requirements.

  • Conduct product tastings and perform costing analysis.

  • Create master formulas and detailed compounding instructions.

  • Prepare product specs for customer submission and assist with technical inquiries.

  • Conduct shelf-life and stability testing.

  • Assist in initial production runs of new products.

  • Manage sample requests in the absence of the R&D Manager.

  • Maintain regular attendance and complete additional projects as needed.

 
Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Food Science or related field OR high school diploma with equivalent experience.

  • 3-4 years of R&D Chemist experience preferred.

  • Strong taste and aroma evaluation skills.

  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
