Kelly® Engineering is seeking a Test Engineer for a contract-to-permanent position with a leading provider of innovative testing solutions in Van Buren Township, MI. Overview

Our client is a leading provider of innovative testing solutions, specializing in powertrain and vehicle testing for some of the world’s top engine and vehicle manufacturers. As a Test Engineer, you will be part of a highly skilled team focused on delivering top-tier results for engine and drivetrain evaluations. The role involves overseeing and conducting vehicle and powertrain tests to meet strict OEM standards. Ideal candidates will thrive in problem-solving scenarios and are motivated by exceeding customer expectations.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up, maintain, and operate test cells for engines, drivetrains, and vehicles.

  • Prepare engines and test components for evaluation.

  • Conduct dyno cell operations, including test setup and execution.

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose engines, drivetrains, and test rigs.

  • Collaborate closely with customer engineers and project teams to ensure project timelines and requirements are met.

  • Create and refine test procedures for various vehicle systems.

  • Organize and manage project information and testing equipment.

  • Execute multiple concurrent tests and projects, ensuring timely completion.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts during project downtime, including safety, 5S, and facility enhancements.

  • Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols and perform regular maintenance and housekeeping duties on test equipment.
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as Engineering or a related discipline.

  • 1–3 years of experience conducting testing on systems, components, or environments (e.g., engines, drivetrains, vehicles, or test rigs).

  • Previous experience in 1065 EPA emissions testing and engine dyno testing.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in engine and drivetrain systems.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical schematics and drawings.

  • Proficiency with mechanical and electrical troubleshooting tools such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and other diagnostic equipment.

  • Experience with machine tools, welding, and fabricating.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and within a team.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

  • Proficiency in test cell software, such as Cyflex, and standard office software (MS Office Suite).
