Kelly Science has an immediate opening for a Compliance/Technical Manager for our growing client near Evanston, IL
Full-time
Direct Hire
Salary: $80,000-$100,000 DOE.

Role Overview

As the Technical Manager, you will play a vital role in maintaining and enhancing the quality standards of our dairy products. This position involves working with both internal teams and third-party suppliers to ensure adherence to quality, regulatory, and safety standards, with a focus on continuous improvement. You will also serve as the key point of contact for customer quality queries, audits, and complaints, and will be responsible for overseeing product development initiatives and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Product Development:

    • Support formulation and development of new products, manage item specifications, and lead competitive benchmarking.

    • Assist with shelf-life studies and product tastings to ensure quality and compliance.


  • Regulatory Compliance:

    • Act as the primary contact for FDA audits and maintain audit readiness for FSVP/FSMA.

    • Collaborate with the global audit team to ensure site and supplier compliance documentation is up-to-date.

    • Support certification and compliance efforts for product claims and programs.


  • Customer Quality:

    • Manage customer complaints, working with the global technical team to analyze and close cases.

    • Provide detailed reporting on complaints and trends to drive continuous improvement.

    • Facilitate customer queries, audits, and forms, ensuring high-quality standards.


  • Product Quality & Risk:

    • Investigate product quality issues, support root-cause analysis, and coordinate laboratory testing as needed.

    • Lead site audits in North America, ensuring third-party suppliers meet company’s standards.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required.

  • Experience: 4-6 years in a medium to large organization, preferably in CPG or dairy.

  • Technical Expertise: Strong background in HACCP, BRC, FSVP, FSMA, and supplier/customer audits.

  • Knowledge in Microbiology, Food Safety, and Quality Management Systems.

  • Familiarity with food manufacturing sites is essential.

  • Skills: Excellent decision-making, delegation, and problem-solving abilities. Sensory evaluation of dairy products is a plus.

  • Certifications: HACCP and BRC preferred. FSVP certification required within 6 months of hire.
