Veterinary Technician
Kelly Outsourcing Consulting Group Kelly OCG, a managed solution provider and business unit of Kelly Services, Inc., is currently seeking an Veterinary Technician for a long-term engagement at one of our Global medical device clients in Santa Clara, CA & Redwood City, CA.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 1st shift
Compensation: $32-38/hr
Summary:
This position is part of the Preclinical Affairs department. The scope of this position will encompass the responsibilities of all full-time and part-time employees working as Surgical Veterinary Technicians in Preclinical Affairs.
Responsibilities:
- Knowledge of anatomy and surgical methods to assist in procedure development and communication with Preclinical team members and cross-functional groups.
- Understand and follow GLP Good Laboratory Practice regulations.
- Perform tasks such as anesthesia, post-operative care, husbandry, and euthanasia with minimal supervision.
- Maintain records following all appropriate regulations.
- Maintain inventory of instrumentation, supplies, and equipment in compliance with regulatory requirements and departmental procedures.
- Participate in occasional weekend and holiday care on a rotational basis.
- Communicate personnel issue escalation through Kelly SETT BPO Operations Manager.
- Other responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
- Education: Registered Veterinary Technician certification highly preferred.
- Certification: ALAT, LAT, or LATG certification preferred.
- Skills and Experience:
- At least 1 year of experience in veterinary anesthesia with ability to monitor cases independently is highly preferred.
- Experience with large animal anesthesia is highly preferred.
- Ability to proactively initiate tasks.
- Experience in GLP preclinical studies is desirable.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and math skills.
- Ability to consistently follow directions and work under pressure.
- Comfortable working in research setting environment with animal models.
- Must be a proficient user of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and lift 60 lbs without assistance.
- Must be able to have occasional schedule flexibility. Occasionally, shifts can start as early as 5am or end as late as 6pm. Occasional rotating weekend and holiday work may be necessary.
- Ability to reliably travel between Santa Clara, CA and Redwood City, CA locations
- At least 1 year of experience in veterinary anesthesia with ability to monitor cases independently is highly preferred.
