Structural Steel Fitter
Pay Rate: $25, depending on experience.
Location: Vidor, TX
Schedule: 6a – 2:30p, Monday – Friday.
Position Summary:
The Structural Steel Fitter is responsible for performing layout and assembly of structural steel items following shop drawings to ensure efficient production. This role requires a high level of teamwork and cooperation to meet production goals.
Qualifications:
- 3 years of experience in structural steel fitting
- Skilled in reading shop drawings, layout, tack-welding, and standard fitting techniques
- Strong mathematical skills and familiarity with structural steel shapes and grades
- Ability to work independently from designs or sketches
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Valid driver’s license
- Physical ability to lift 10-50 lbs, full range of body movement, and work in varying temperatures and noisy environments
- Willing to work 8-10 hour shifts, with occasional weekends
Key Responsibilities:
- Interprets shop drawings and determines layout approach
- Proficient in fitting techniques and welding (SMAW, FCAW)
- Performs inventory checks and ensures materials meet shop requirements
Work Environment:
Includes exposure to noise, dust, and moving machinery.
