POSITION TITLE: Machine Operator - Rewind Slitter
Shift Hours: 7am to 3:30pm, Monday-Friday
Pay: $20-$23 based on experience
Employment Type: Temporary Assignment (2-3 month assignment)
Location: Frankfort, IL 60423
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Rewind Slitter is responsible for slitting large rolls of finished product into smaller rolls, adhering to specified customer orders or stocked inventory. The role includes performing quality checks to ensure conformance, packaging, and labeling the product, and placing it in the correct inventory bin or staging area for the shipping department. The position demands a safety-focused approach and adherence to all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safety guidelines.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Safety and Compliance: Maintain a safety-focused approach daily, adhering to all PPE and safety guidelines.
- Machine Operation: Load and unload large rolls of finished product onto the rewind slitter machine.
- Setup and Programming: Configure and program the rewind slitter based on sizing specifications unique to each order.
- Operation Monitoring: Operate the rewind slitting machine, observing its operation to detect potential errors.
- Product Handling: Tape-off finished slit rolls, remove the finished product, and reload the machine for the next cycle.
- Quality Check: Perform quality checks to verify conformance with specifications.
- Packaging and Labeling: Correctly package and label the finished product and move it to the appropriate inventory or staging location.
- Continuous Improvement: Maintain a focus on continuous improvement by applying 80/20, PLS, and USa principles/techniques and make process improvement recommendations to management.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience/Skills:
- Minimum of one (1) year of prior manufacturing experience, including the setup and operation of production/manufacturing equipment.
- Knowledge of manufacturing operations.
- Proficient computer skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent manual dexterity.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain high productivity in repetitive tasks while working in a fast-paced environment.
- Minimum of one (1) year of prior manufacturing experience, including the setup and operation of production/manufacturing equipment.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
- Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
REASONING ABILITY:
- Ability to understand and follow instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
PHYSICAL/VISUAL ACTIVITIES OR DEMANDS:
- Physical Activities: Constantly required to talk, hear, twist/turn, reach outward, handle/manipulate and grasp objects, stand, walk, and bend. Frequently required to reach above shoulders and occasionally climb or squat.
- Physical Demands: Must be able to carry up to 50 pounds constantly and up to 100 pounds occasionally; push and pull up to 10 pounds constantly and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
- Vision Requirements: Concentrated attention, close vision, far vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to bring objects into sharp focus.
