Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Baltimore, MD
Salary: $100,000 to $130,000 DOE

Kelly is working with a client seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a team that designs solutions incorporating multi-axis motion control systems, electromechanical systems, and pneumatics for the manufacturing of liquid filling machinery systems supporting the biotech, diagnostic, pharmaceutical, cosmetic and cannabis industries. Packaging lines typically include bottle unscramblers, liquid fillers, pluggers, cappers, labelers, coders, and inspection systems. The machines are capable of dispensing from microliters to gallons at speeds of up to 250 containers per minute. You will utilize your expertise in sizing/selecting multi-axis motion controls systems, electromechanical systems and pneumatics in engineering machinery that meet our customers automated filling and capping requirements.

Responsibilities 
•    Independently design automated machinery that meets our client s production requirements in filling, capping and labeling their products, within a project timeline. 
•    Collaborative work with engineering team and help guide/mentor team members. 
•    Develop new product concepts, technical drawing packages, and cost estimates. 
•    Incorporate engineering standards for reusable design components and standard parts. 
•    Interface with engineering, sales, manufacturing, assembly, and technical service. 
•    Create performance calculations, timing diagrams, flow charts, sequence of events and BOM s specification sheets. 
•    Develop solutions to complex challenges within the defined project timeline. 
•    Lead design review and knowledge-sharing discussions.
•    Identify commercially available machine components. 
•    Troubleshoot and resolve issues with new and existing machinery in collaboration with the manufacturing/assembly teams. 

Qualifications 
•    Bachelor s Degree, in Engineering / Machine Design / Mechanical / Mechatronics and 7+ years of experience OR 10+ years equivalent experience. 
•    Expert in sizing/selecting multi-axis motion control systems, electromechanical systems, and pneumatics. 
•    Demonstrated “blank page design” experience with ability to produce concepts for new sales applications. 
•    Significant experience designing automated machinery, such as assembly, packaging, filling and/or continuous motion machines. 
•    Exceptional concept and problem-solving skills 
•    Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills. 
•    Engineering and design principles, Tolerance Stack Up Analysis, Geometric Tolerancing. Knowledge of FDA, ASME standards/regulations preferred. 
•    3D Design experience -SolidWorks, or similar Inventor, Creo, etc 
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
•    The ability to control multiple projects of varying complexity from concept to completion. 
•    Familiarity with machine shop/manufacturing practices.
