Job details

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
– Prepare and evaluate water based pressure sensitive adhesive tapes and labels (measure specific properties) including peel, shear, tack, and release under a variety of temperature and humidity conditions.
– Clean test panels and equipment used for evaluations
– Test Production samples of acrylic emulsions in applications tests
– Prepare and evaluate binders and binder formulations for use in textile and non-woven applications
– Operate small to medium size laboratory equipment
– Occasionally prepare and evaluate solvent rubber-based pressure sensitive tapes and labels
– Occasionally mix drum and industrial bulk container-quantity water-based emulsions

Qualifications, Competencies, and Position Requirements:
– Strong laboratory safety mindset and adherence to company- and group-specific safety protocols, including but not limited to safe handling of chemicals, application equipment, procedure use for coating and testing methods, and proper handling and disposal of waste chemicals and used laboratory supplies.
– Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
– Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes quickly.
– Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics and operate laboratory-scale equipment and instrumentation.
– Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with regularly shifting priorities.
– Good written and verbal communication skills.
– Ability to work in a team environment, including communication with multiple project leaders and excellent stewardship of laboratory environment including lab housekeeping, chemical inventory/storage, and consumable materials and supplies.
– Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel, and ability to organize and summarize experimental data.
– Ability to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations:
– Frequent/occasional lifting, pushing, and pulling material weighing approximately 50 lbs.
– Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
– Standing 50% of the time.
– Wearing all required personal protective equipment.
