Kelly Services is looking for a warehouse associate in the shipping/receiving department for a Direct Hire opportunity in Geismar, LA

This is a direct hire position and is NOT temporary or contract. 

This position pays $19-21/hr. These roles are first shift and would work 7a-4p Monday through Friday with no OT or weekends needed. Position comes with full benefits: 401K match, 3 weeks of paid time off (all front-loaded), Paid Holidays, and Health insurance options. Does require valid drivers license as some local delivery would be required as needed.

This position will be the single point of contact for the shipping/receiving department. You will pick orders, receive inventory into the system and put away, print labels and stage items for delivery, and do some delivery scheduling. Must be computer literate and have forklift experience (do not have to be certified however). You will use a lot of both sitdown/standup forklift, RF scanner and computers to work shipments.

Verify and maintain records on incoming and outgoing shipments involving inventory.  Duties include verifying, recording and stocking incoming equipment and material, pulling and preparing items for shipment, and arranging for the transportation of finished products.  Maintain accurate and proactive control of inventory.

Essential Functions 
Receive incoming inventory.
•    Open and examine shipment contents and compare with packaging list, manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy of inventory being received. 
•    Communicate any discrepancies to the appropriate departments.
•    Move inventory to Inspection area. 
•    After completion of inspection, move inventory to appropriate departments and communicate with lead assembly technicians that inventory is now in their areas.
Control Inventory.
•    Perform day-to-day administrative tasks such as maintaining information files and processing paperwork.
•    Enter incoming and outgoing inventory information into J.D. Edwards by hand or by a hand-held scanner for recordkeeping, reporting, and accounting purposes.
•    Transport and store incoming inventory, materials, and supplies in the warehouse in the appropriate location to maintain accurate inventory of stock.
•    Perform inventory adjustments as instructed. 
•    Perform reversals/receipts as instructed by Finance Dept.
Prepare, inspect, and ship inventory to customers and/or other Richter locations. 
•    Pick slips will be auto-printed to printer but if needed, must be able to print pick slips for orders that are shippable.
•    Pull inventory for orders to be shipped.
•    Prepare documents, such as work orders, bills of lading, or shipping orders, needed to route materials and for regulatory compliance.
•    Inspect outgoing shipments and compare with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to ensure correct order fulfillment.  Pictures must be taken to ensure condition of product before leaving our facility.
•    Pack, seal, label, or affix postage to prepare materials for shipping.
•    Coordinate outgoing shipping activities with external parties.   Contact shipping carrier to schedule orders for pick-up and issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials. 
Inspection/maintenance of Company delivery vehicles
•    Must have valid driver’s license.
•    Responsible for daily inspection, i.e. check air in tires, check fluids, fuel levels. Schedule vehicle for oil/filter change etc.
•    Must be able to drive vehicle to nearest gas station for fuel and nearest shop for oil/filter change.
 Other Duties
•    Submit expense reports for approval of purchased items, such as shop supplies and fuel.
•    Manage and order supplies necessary to do job.  i.e., shipping boxes, tape, wooden pallets, labels, etc.
•    Perform other duties as needed or requested.

Education And Education
Minimum Requirements:
•    High school diploma or equivalent
•    Computer literate

Preferred:
•    Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook & Word)
•    Knowledge of J.D. Edwards or other inventory management/tracking software
•    Knowledge of shipping and labeling software
 
Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
•    Ability to move around a warehouse environment.
•    Ability to safely drive and operate a forklift in a narrow environment.
•    General Physical Activities.  Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.   Ability to stand and move for extended period of time.  Ability to lift and move up to 35 pounds.
•    Handling and Moving Objects.  Ability to use hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things. 
•    Dependability.  Must be reliable, responsible, and dependable in fulfilling obligations.
•    Attention to detail.  Must be accurate and thorough in the completion of work tasks. 
•    Excellent communication skills.  Ability to speak with others and understand written instructions to in order to convey information effectively.
•    Active listening.  Ability to listen to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
•    Efficient organization and excellent time management skills.  Ability to manage one’s own time appropriately and efficiently
•    Initiative.  Willingness to take on extra responsibilities and challenges to address deficiencies or barriers to complete responsibilities.
•    Independent.  Ability to work with limited supervision.
•    Computer literacy skills.  Ability to use computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to enter data or process information accurately.
•    Ability to multitask.  Ability to be adaptable and flexible based on the needs of the work environment.
•    Analytical and critical thinking.  Ability to analyze information and use logic to identify alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems to address work-related issues and problems.
•    Fast-paced work.  Ability to work quickly to solve problems as they arise to ensure that operations stay on schedule.
•    Adaptable and flexible.  Ability to anticipate and adapt to situational needs of the work environment in order to complete work and meet operational needs.  Ability to occasionally adjust work schedule to meet operational and customer needs.
